Hello! Having a problem with my Merc CL500 and came across this website whilst searching google for a solution. So first post!
It's a 2001 CL500 and the engine light is coming on. I have taken it to a garage to get the error codes read out from the ECU and they are as follows:
Code 83 - Misfire on Cylinder 3 Harmful to Cat
Code 86 - Misfire on Cylinder 4 Harmful to Cat
Initially, I there was only the one error (code 83) I replaced the plugs, got the error memory erased and the engine light came back on. I then replaced the leads going to cylinder 3, had the memory reset and the light came back on with both the errors above. I finally then swapped over the coil packs from 5 to 3 (to see if the coil was the problem), got the memory erased and the light came back on.
To be a bit more specific about the engine light, I don't notice any difference in normal running of the car it's just when I put the power down I experience the misfire which then turns on the engine light once it has been erased.
Has anyone experienced any similar problems to this or know a potential solution? Thanks.
