His radar was pointing in one direction, that is all. He may of been facing you but he had his radar rear pointing. Or Vice Versa.

K40 and Distronic shouldn't have anything to do with each other. The only thing Distronic has interference with is Radar equipment, both yours and other drivers.

K40 is Laser.

Radar detectors

Actually, K40 is radar and laser. Im trying to understand if the interference is only when disctronic is activated or if disctronic emits some constant signal whether its activated or not.

Yea you are right. Well to answer the question...... Disctronic will almost always cause some interference in some or most all radar detectors IMO.

DISTRONIC / X-band

I have the Distronic option and have the Excort 9500i radar/laser detector and I don't have a problem using it.

On another note; should I keep the X-band detection on? It seems all I get is false alarm with the X-band. I read somewhere online that 30% of radars use the K-band and 70% use the Ka-Band. So why keep the X-band on? Has anyone detected a cop with the X-band warning?

top search engine placement

I always get my top search engine placement by searching with Google. If they don't appear on page 1 themselves, then I certainly won't trust them to get me there.

did all 215's incorporate this infrared glass?

i ask this because my 2006 cl500 has a real problem having its eztag toll device recognized[position is beneath right hand rain detector zone, behind rear view mirror]. its races through the toll gates seem to be invoiced based on reading my license tag from the violation photos. monthly i get a note telling me that i need to fix a special device to my front license tag[i don't run a front license tag even though that is a req in texas - no cop seems to care. i don't run one on my cayenne turbo or cl55amg either].

the 2006 cl55amg, with the eztag device in the same position, seems to have no problem being read.

my monroney for the cl500 identified this glass. the monroney for the cl55amg did not.

though i thought it unlikely, was the infrared glass not deployed across the board for all 215 series vehicles?

The glass is leaded. It should work in the shaded area beside the rear view mirror. Maybe it's your tag, they do go bad- mine did.

well, not quite the answer i was looking for.

the real question is: did a 2006 cl500 have infrared glass and a 2006 cl55amg did not?

i run ez tag toll devices of similar design on all my benzes. on my porsche cayenne.

some are older. some newer. only vehicle that has a problem is this 2006 cl500. and since i don't permanently fix any of these devices to any windshield[they are all affixed with tape] i have trialed them all on this cl500. in a number of locations.

doesn't make a difference. according to hctra, none are ever read on this cl500. all are read on the cl55amg.

so, were some 215's outfitted with infrared glass and some not?

as i said, the monroney for the cl500 identifies this style glass as a standard feature. the monroney for the cl55amg does not mention that style glass.
