20"s or 18"????
hello,
today i cracked a second of 20" rims that were on my CL500. I've only had this vehicle for 30 days. 2 sets of 20" rims both destroyed. My question is when dealing with 20" rims do i have to get low profile tires? I live in DC and the potholes out here are out of control. Or should I just go to 18" rims? cuz i cannot spend 1k per week on wheels...lol!! thanks in advance

Craigslist
the 2nd one that i purchased i got from Craigslist. Ruff Racing Rims R930 black with machined lip. I have not had these rims for more then 1 week....so either i will get them welded tomorrow or just get 18's because i cant live my life like this. Maybe get a bigger tire??? I'm new this the world of wheels.

I agree. These rims must be poor quality. I have 2 cars with 20" rims, 1st CLS63 copies with 30 profile the other Gianna Royale's with 35. I have done about 60,000 kms combined and haven't had a problem. Touch wood. (not tiger woods, we'll leave that to the pro's)
On a previous car I had a set of Vault 19" wheels that were cheap and I cracked 3 wheels.
If you can afford a Merc then you can afford a good set of wheels.

so how can i know if the wheels are cheap or not if im buying them second hand? Whats the usual retail price for a good set of rims? or its more about the brand? as I said im new to the whole wheels thing.

Do your research, read reviews. A set of forged wheels new will be anywhere from 4000-6000 bucks.
