CL600 Intercooler tank

The biturbo V12s have air-water intercoolers, but I'm unable to spot where the tank is. Is it a closed system?

Typical procedure is to add ice or dry ice at the track, but first you have to find the tank!

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd be reluctant to track the CL600. Lots of body roll. Seats made for long distance touring not for pulling 1g around a corner. Small brakes.

The CL600 is one mean coupe. But a track car it is not.

PS. I tracked a number of turbo porsches, and I never worried about the turbo. Another reason to NOT track your CL600.

I agree with orangemarlin, only AMG cars can be driven on the track. It's not that the CL600 is bad but it's not it philosophy.

I agree about the brakes, but with the ABC body roll is very, very minimal. Biggest knock against it other than brakes would be that its heavy!

AMG is no better in that regard either.

I was thinking about the dragstrip any, so my intercooler question stands.

Dave - you can take off the engine cladding and put ice on top of both intercoolers, which will certainly help a touch. However, I think you will find there's no need. My S600 never heat soaked its intercooler even when I did 5 1/4 mile passes in 30 minutes. MPH was consistent between 116.4 and 116.9. If you do anything, put a few gallons of 100 octane unleaded in the tank to prevent knock and allow your ECU to run maximum timing advance.

My fearless prediction for a stock CL600: 12.40 @ 115, 12.25 if you can get a really good launch.
