Steering Wheel Problem

I have a problem with the steering wheel. There are cracks in the wood every inch all around the steering wheel. It is just sort of weird. This probem cane out of no where. As of right now, it is not a safety problem. However, it is concerning.

Has anyone else experienced this?

mercedes

common problem with the early year mercedes wood steering wheels. They like to crack every few inches. Mostly due to the constant heat up and cool from direct sunlight.

I have a 2006 E320 CDI with the same problem. Of all the things on the car this annoys me the most. I purchased the car used and expected more on a car of this caliber. Has anybody had luck with Mercedes fixing the problem?
