new owner...

Hey guys,

Well I just recently purchased a 2002 mercedes CL600 with 55K miles all service records and all.. so I'd just like to introduce myself

.. I am coming from the vw/audi/porsche scene, and decided to try out one of these cl's I have a twin turbo stage 3 audi a6 which I have done a lot of work on, and a 911 drop top, along side my father owns a cayenne S...

So either way.. a few questions

1. The 2002 navi/dash seems pretty outdated, and it seems like you cant do a single/double din conversion and just slap in an AVIC or any other after market navi unit. So my question is has anyone done anything about that? any after market dashes out there?
2. About lowering a car is there a limit on to how much you can lower it with the lowering links?
3. I have an SRS light and the old owner told me its some sensor under the drivers seat, does anyone know where that sensor is?
4. The cooled seats dont really seem to cool, or in other words the air is very very very very weak from them even on 3rd speed...

Thank you!
Paul

It sounds like the car has a few minor issues. Did you have the car inspected and these issues addressed at that point?

There is a limit to how low, but it will most likely be low enough for you.

and the cooling seats suck air not blow it.

no i didnt have the car inspected, as I drove for 4 hours to get it as I found a really good deal on it. All these are minor issues. Does anyone have any advice or clue on any of them?

the SRS light seems to be quite a common problem, does anyone know where those sensors under the seat are located?

Thanks,
Paul

I am not sure about the location of the SRS sensors. But if you look at my pasts post you will see some issues I have come across. I have a 03 and I lowered my with the Brabus Lowering Module. There are no links on my car, like most MB have. The ABC system is what keeps the car raised. The module tricks the computer into thinking its at a different height. Good luck and fix things asap or they will eventually build up. Trust me you will eventually have issues. I love my car but the ***** is high maintenance.

right right, I guess my only worries right now ***knock on wood!! .. are the SRS Light which stays on, the airbag on/off indicator light next to the shifter that doesnt come on when nobody is sitting in the seat..(which is possibly, most likely caused by a faulty sensor in the passenger seat.. right?

aand also figuring out how to get the cd changer magazine out...

Any ideas?

Remove the CD changer, take the face off, and you can find a lever to eject the magazine. I would replace it with an iPod kit, as it will continue to break.

You're probably right about the SRS light. You may need a dealer or independent with SRS to reset the light after you fix the sensor. I would get that done ASAP, just in case it prevents your airbags from firing.

New stereo would be a good bit of work. You'd need a custom bezel made.

ah ok thanks for that info

Yeah I thought custom stereo would be a pain, bezel, the controls to wire into all car computers and steering wheel right? has anyone done this here?

Thanks,
Paul

Steering wheel integration is the most fickle part. PAC audio makes a kit, and some stereos have available kits. Search on here and you'll find some.

The actual audio portion should be easy.
