CL55 AMG or CL600, which is better?

Both the AMG CL55 and CL600 have the same o-60 mph time, as stated by Mercedes Benz. Both have a price difference of about $20,000 US dollars (CL600 being the more expensive one of course) and are sold in the USA as you may already know. But I really think they are of equal acceleration for a couple of reasons. The CL55 has a lighter weight overall by at least a couple hundred pounds and a equal horse power (500 Horse power that is) to the CL600! The CL600 though has four more cylinders to draw power from has nearly another 100 pounds feet of torque (516 for the CL55 and nearly 600 for the CL600). But it should be noted that torque is not what you need for high speed acceleration. It is horsepower! The CL55 supercharges it's engine through a "kompressor." Whereas the CL600 works by turbos. But it is also my understanding that supercharging is the better and more efficient way to increase horsepower from an engine.

So as you can see that the CL55 and CL600 have different strengths and weaknesses. They were designed to be equals in terms of acceleration, but each one is different towards a certain buyer. The '55 for the more sporting kind of person whereas the 600 is more about refinement... both will get you to your destination in equal time, but in a different fashion.

i think the 55 is more for consumers who are into a CL that is flashy and prefer looks. 600 is more for performance and geared towards those who like all the "bells and whistles".

the benz new twin turbo v12 engines seem to get more rear-wheel hp and also more hp gain with the ecu upgrade from brabus. I think treynor said he had 650hp from his S600. I would get the CL600.

edit/ with sport package of course.

treynor has the RENNtech ecu upgrade, not brabus.

I'd go for the 600 and get a sport package, the 600 engines are more powerful, and larger, and just plain ol' top of the line.

Unless your a hard racer (then if you are mercedes isn't for you) go for the AMG.

MOney $$$

CL600 is more expensive since it has 4 more cylinders, more luxuries and options, and more torque than the CL55 AMG car.
