04 CL600 vs. E60 M5
I posted this on Bimmerforums.com as well. Just thought I would share with you guys too.
Well, on Thanksgiving night, the Girlfriend and I were driving home from her sister's house. And as we are just crusin' along, an E60 M5 flys by us. We were already going almost 70mph in a 60mph zone. So he was freakin' moving! As he passed, he SLAMS his brakes and matchs my speed. I assume he noticed what he just blew past (I have a "V12 Bi-turbo" badge on my fenders). So as he drives next to us, he rolls his window down and gives us a big smile and a thumbs up. We do the same.
So we both slow down to about 40mph since there is NOBODY in sight. He honks it off, and we both launched at the exact same time. I was able to pull on him pretty much the whole time, but not a whole lot. We shut down at around 110mph, and I was about 2-3 cars ahead (kind of hard to tell in the dark).
Then we end up at a stop light, still with nobody around. And he starts reving up his perfect sounding V10 for us, and the thing is freaking screaming!! I'm not sure if he had anything else done to the M5, but he definitly had an exhaust. As soon as the light turns green, we both nail it again. Except this time, I think I got a little excited, and ended up hiting the gas a bit to hard, and started doing a little burn out. Took me FOREVER to get traction. When I did get traction, the M5 was prolly 2 cars ahead already. We ended about 1/2 a car infront by 100mph-ish. We had to turn at the next stop light and went on our way home. The guy in the M5 seemed like a cool guy, he honked and gave the thumbs up as he passed while we were turning.
So, needless to say, it was a really fun drive home

The 600tt cars give some of the most dramatic results when we tune them. After tuning the M5 doesn't stand a chance...... you can give them a handicapped head start!

Thanks ! And if its not a bother, how and how expensive was it to drop your CL 1.5"? And also what percent do you have on the windows?

Sorry it probably won't be of much help but I got the links AT the place I bought the car, as they were a small dealership that did nothing but Benzs and similar. They're out of business now and I have no idea where the owner is ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Hopefully there is a post about those links - - for someone running with them for 3 years now I know surprisingly little about them

Very smart CL, Limen.
The V12 twin turbos are incredibly accomplished straight line performers out the box. Add a tune and it takes something very exotic to get beaten.
Nearly three years ago I was fortunate enough to buy a low mile SL65. It was the first car I'd bought second hand but it felt brand new but offered a great deal. Not the greatest in the corners but breathtaking freeway power and braking. Possibly the ultimate grand tourer (mpg not withstanding) in my view. Unfortunately it was totaled when parked on the street only 6 months after I got it hence the E-Class. I considered the M and it test drove very well but MB offered a great deal and I haven't been disappointed.

I know this is an old thread I'm bumping. But I a few days ago, I ran into the driver of this M5 at a starbucks shop. And he (as well as I did) remebered the race we had, and we sat there and talked cars for a solid hour. A very cool guy...
I know, kind of a useless bump. But I thought it was a cool story.

Yeah, the motor was in the same state as its in now. But at the time of this race, I had the winter rim/tire set up on the CL. So I think that had a little to do with it, but his M5 could skoot.

that M5 could have every mod available short of forced induction and you should have annihilated him from a 40 roll, have you ever run your cl600 down the 1/4 mile?

So needless to say, it was not a very good couple of runs. First run was just horrible with a 12.6. But the second run was a little better, had a hard time launching her that day, but managed to get an 11.4 @ 120ish. I'll have to check the time slips when I get home from work for the exact numbers.

+1 for John...
Haha M6 looks and sounds beautiful, and thats about it lol. Lack of torque, and the high rev motor... city driving its pure garbage. On the highway its ok, but cannot keep with no AMG's thats for sure.
The v12tt would absolutely MURDER the m5/m6
