i have a 2004 cl600 and want to replace the tpm sensor in the wheel. i've read a couple of posts, looked at the maintenance dvd and called the dealer. i have conflicting info. and would like feedback. the dealer and mercedes dvd say you have to program the id.# of the sensor and the specified tire pressure into the tpm control unit using star diagnostics.
i've also been told and read that all you have to do is replace the sensor and scroll through the menu to tire pressure and re-program it on the dash. do we really need the star diagnostic and will it work without it? i'm buying a beru sensor from tire rack.
can it be done properly without the star diagnostic?
thanks

one other question. the tpm light comes up white, not red and the dealer couldn't get a fault code. any input?

mine does the same thing- one (or all) the battery's prob low. I just reset mine then it works again. I don't know the answer to your question, although I've heard they can be replaced at any tire shop then reset on the dash. I don't think it's worth the $$.
