w215 stuck in P,plz help how do i dismassemble center console etc.???

hallo, i have a cl500 w215 02 model pre facelift, that is stuck in P, is there anyone who can tell me a step be step guide on how to disaasemble the center console so i can get to the shifter box and remove the broken plastic piece that is causing the problem???

If anyone has a step by step guide on the whole procedure it would be great!!

Any help is appreciated!, does anyone know if i hammer the top of the gear lever in order to get it out of P temporary will i still be able to just remove the plastic piece to make the fix, or will i brake the whole thing if i hammer it out of P????

I have read a lot on the subject but find it hard to find exactly the info i need on my w215 model, also im confused if i need to go under the car to detacha cable from the ignition???

Anyone here who has completed this entire procedure on a w215???

take the shift knob off and just pull up the plastic thats around the shifter. if you want to take the whole center consel off then there are a few screws inside the center consol department under the carpet. remove the air vent in the back of the consel by just pulling it out with you fingers and disconnect the wires. there are a few screws in the ash trey and under the plastic around the shift knob. you also need to remove 2 screws under the carpet where your knee will be when you sitdown in the seat. that will be one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. hope thats clear, let us know what happened

yes the wood trim is seperate and you just pull it up.

yes just pull the carpet away to get to the screws, if u are having problems taking the carpet out, then take all the other screws out and that will loosen the center concol and will be easier to take out the carpet.

i dont know how to disassemble the gear box.

i have taken out the center consel, but not the gear box

I didnt try yet, it is 10pmhere in Denmark, i will try tomorrow, but i guess it should be fairly easy when you know whre the screws is located, is there anything i should be aware of when i remove the console itself, like plastic breaking or something, any special way of pulling the console of???

i dont know what caused the problem, but i removed the plastic part that blocks so it can now move out of p no matter if the brake is pressed or engine is on.

this is a common problem with these models.

If you take the gear knob off and pull the gear lever down and hit it with a hemmer it will move out of p also and then you can make the fix if you are up to it.

Here is a detailed instruction, you DONT need togo under the car, atleast not on the w215 model,
