Asking $25,988. It's also on Autotrader:

IMO that's a lot of $$ for a 7 year old car. I know they're $100k+ new. I bought my '04 CL500 with 37k on the clock over 2 years ago for less than $20k. The sticker was $105k new. Remember these cars (especially the 12 cylinder models) can be very expensive to repair. I would recommend you get a warranty with it if you're going to spend that kind of cash.

A similar year and miles E55 would still be over $20k. And while still a great car, its not the same. Agree that over $20k for a 7 year car seems steep, but compared to an equivalent 7 year old car from Aston, Ferrari, Bentley, etc. this is cheap. You're getting twin turbo V12 and all leather interior for less than the cost of a new Camry.

If it was trade in I can imagine they got it for $20k or so, there is definitely a room to negotiate.
I would suggest to have it checked out by MB mechanic though. Good price isn't everything especially if you deal with CL600.

I've been exchanging e-mails with the dealer and asked if they would accept $25K out-the-door without having seen the car. That's about $22,500-ish for the car if you figure in sales tax and fees. They rejected my offer.

Yeah, don't think there are so many buyers out there, the car will be sitting there for couple months and then they'll accept your offer :-)

With a private party, they will eventually wise up and take a reasonable offer. With a dealer, a lot of times it will sit and then they'll send it back to auction instead of wising up and selling it for a reasonable price to a buyer. Then the next dealer repeats the cycle. Some of these cars get passed all over at auction before someone finally looks at eBay to see what they're really selling for and prices it to move at a dealer.
A dealer that doesn't really know what to look for at auction might buy this and not realize that the lack of AMG and Keyless will make it much harder to move, unless they drop price several thousand.

My car doesn't have the "keyless go" option, but I can't imagine it would make that much difference in the price. I'm sure it's a nice feature, but it certainly wouldn't deter me from buying the car. It's not that hard to put the key in the ignition.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I found another local CL600 here:
http://www.sanjoseaudi.com/detail-20...d-6740195.html
This is a 2005, 26K miles, AMG pkg and keyless for $34,999. I think the asking price is too high but I would jump at this car if they were willing to sell me this car at the other car's asking price of $25,988 but I doubt they would go that low. What do you guys think is a fair price to offer for this one?

That car's worth about $30k. It's a newer model and low miles, so it won't really be in the $20k to $25k range. But it's not worth $35k. That's CL65 money, albeit with a few more miles.

But selling at the auction is cheaper (no detail, no prep, no nothing), you get paid faster (car sells in 45 seconds, you get check 5 minutes later), and there is zero liability (no problems to deal with after the sale, no passing inspection, no nothing). So dealers will always take less at auction vs. retail.
There are two nice CL600's at auction tomorrow.....a black/grey 2004 with 44.5K miles, and a silver/black 2003 with 45.6K miles. If you want references, there are at least 5 people here on MBWorld that got their cars from me.
With these cars, you should be an expert buyer, or hire one like me, to get a car you do not have to worry about. I have a multiple inspection process that guarantees the car is 100%, or back it goes and I get a full refund AFTER I buy it.
My price is the same or less than you will find elsewhere, but once retained I work for you so I get what you want, do not lie about the car's condition, and have recourse if any problems are found.

This is a great deal. Low miles, looks clean, good color in and out, keyless go, AMG package, basically everything you could want, and could get it for low 20's shipped. There's plenty out there, just keep looking around.

Sport package is AMG wheels and bumpers and sideskirts. If you look, the normal CL front bumper looks like it's smiling. The supports go down and in like a smile. The AMG bumper has the supports going down and out, so it looks more aggressive. It's technically called Sport, but some call it AMG because that's what the parts are lifted from.
I didn't see the lemon report before. Something is odd there, because it was lemoned in 2010 as a 7 year old car. That doesn't make sense. Something is probably wrong on the report.
With a car this expensive, people will lemon them on purpose to get out of the payments. If you complain about a trivial problem like a rattling noise, and do it 3 times and then threaten a lawsuit, you might be able to lemon the car. For some people that realize they're in over their head with a $3k a month payment, this may be what happens. So I wouldn't consider a lemon buy back on a car this expensive to necessarily be a real issue, although it will make resale harder.
