Door handle button is missing

My door handle lock/unlock button must have popped off somewhere.

Does anyone know where to get a replacement button and how I would even attempt to properly install it?

It's a 2004 CL500 and its on the passenger side.

Thanks so much,

Chris

I am curious, too. My passenger button is broken, and I couldn't find the replacement in the parts catalog.

Wow it doesn't look like we are getting our door handles fixed.

I'm really not sure what do at this point. Is it even safe to drive in the rain? Will it short?

I'm not really sure what you mean by a "door handle button" ? I too have a 2004 CL500, and it doesn't have any buttons on the door handle. Maybe you can better explain what it is you're talking about.

It's the keyless go lock button on the door handle. Not sure if that part is right.

OK, I understand now that I see yur pics & saintz's comments. My car doesn't have keyless-go so no buttons on my door handles. Sorry I couldn't help. Hope someone here can.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just fixed my handle about 2 weeks ago and can tell you it's pricey. The entire handle has to be replaced. Part number is 21576005709999-$234 plus shipping. The handle has to be painted about a $100. I choose to let the dealer install it-$120. So $454 plus shipping. Is it worth it. In hind sight no. And nothing will short out, my button fell off 2 years ago and never had a problem. So the question is how important is it to you. Good luck

So how is it a simple switch if we dont even know the part number for the button or proper door handle? do you have a part number you can share with the rest of us?

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

there is no part number for this, on my car (cl y.2000) you can pull rubber from the handle (it's covering the switch) and i can see switch under this rubber. but i dont know how to change it with new one. someone should take apart some old usless handle , to see if it can be done (i think it's possible). I lock my car now from the button on trunk because both (on door handle) are usless

I removed the rubber knob from door handle, just pull it out (cl500), dismantle micro switch and clean the contacts, but it still doesn't work for me

Lightbulb fixed mine on cl65

Purchased used door handle for 99 bucks. Handle was beat up but had button intact. I removed the button carefully by inserting a small screwdriver and working/scraping the rubber frame around the button to remove it from the handle. Was careful not to tear the rubber frame around the button. The button itself is attached to this frame. I then scraped out the rubber frame from my cars door handle applied some super glue around the edge where rubber was removed and attached button and frame from donor handle. It worked but was a bit nerve wracking to not tear rubber frame. Felt better to do this vs. spending hundreds on new OEM replacement handle. Poor design that this button is not removeable and replaceable as a separate part but happy with the cheap fix overall.

My drivers side button went out after several years. The button is only good for some many presses even if the rubber stays intact.

The button itself is encased in epoxy so removal even if one could be sourced is impossible.

Your right, would have made sense to make replacement parts, but that isn't the way it is
