How are we certain it is a 2001?
Because the 5.8 was replaced with the 5.5 BiTurbo for the 2002 MY. This apparently happened around Sept/Oct 2001 for RHD models. However, there may be ones that slipped through the net... You can always check Reg of Jeremys car...

In case you missed the update, a week or two later one of the coil packs went.

Sounds about right :P

If you're soft, I mean, REALLY soft, on the gas and put it on cruise at 70mph you can get around 25mpg.

I see you are in MO (I was born and raised in KC), where it's not as FLAT as Texas, though usually a lot cooler. Maybe those will offset.

Probably the UK tuning give more efficiency to the car fewer smog controls - did they need unleaded then?

That was the first time those packs were ever changed. Should have done the other cp at the same time.

Cl v bmw

I have also owned both of them I currently have the CL I sold the 850 to buy a 645 csi the 6er was much faster than the 850 better gearbox faster change and more intelligent it reved hisgher if driving hard also in sports the 850 was to long in gears then just kind of flopped in next gear and just wasn't sure what it was ment to be a smooth luxury or a sports car it didn't do eather that well the 645 was much better but the Mercedes CL is a different class it does luxury very well smooth and quiet and then put ABC sports on and hello in alive and by by BMW the car knows exactly how to behave in a blink of a eye it becomes a super car killer to a luxury limo amazing engine clever tronic box incredible ABC hydraulic suspension F1tecnolgy keep it handling like a hothach just a million miles apart from the BMW in quality speed and looks only car I think is close to it and probably better in every way is the Bentley continental W12 but still can't hold the road as well the CL will eat it round the corners but come on its a Bentley its going to be better than the CL I've just been lucky a Nuff to drive one my dad's just go the 6L twin turbo and its going to be mine soon happy day's
