01CL600 door close woes

Hopefully some of you veterans can help me out with this one. My passenger side door close assist keeps shorting out or something. It works, then doesnt work, but I can get it to start back working if I disconnect/reconnect the battery. Is there a relay or something thats going out that I can replace? Its been happening for a few months and I cant link it to anything that I or my passengers might be doing to throw it out.

I believe you have a leak in the pneumatic lines for the soft close feature. The pump eventually shuts off so that it doesn't burn out. I'm guessing its a common issue with these cars. Normally it happens on the drivers door as its the one that gets used the most.

It can also very well be that the specific circuit in the PSE module/pump is going bad.

I dont suppose this is an easy fix utilizing AN fittings and a bit of good ole teflon tape?

That would be way to easy for a CL...

I heard a guy on this (or another forum) say he fixed the air leak in his door with tape and/or straps. he claimed he didn't buy any parts. I also saw a repair kit on ebay that contained the small plastic part that usually breaks. let us know how u make out if u try to fix it.

Your problem isn't a broken door lock pneumatic unit YET. If it was you would not have an intermittent soft close problem and you would be hearing a loud WHOOSH in the door when the pump was supplying air on that circuit.
