bi-xenon

Purchased a 2003 CL500 2 weeks back, i believe all 2003 and above models came with the upgraded Bi-xenon lights.

On my 2003 cl, physically looked at the lights and they are the bi-xenon headlights

But for some reason the bi-xenon feature doesn't work, when i activate the flasher(high beam), the yellow halogen light bulbs light but nothing happens at the xenon bulb.

Is there a fuse, or a special procedure to activate the bi-xenon feature.

help appreciated.

Thanks

No user intervention is needed to activate the Bi-Xenon system other than to switch between your low and high beams.

When you do this you do not see the outer headlights become brighter ?

What happens in a Bi-Xenon system is that the projectors have a hinged cutoff shield that will move out of the way when the high beam solenoid is activated, letting more light project through the lens, and creating the high beam.

The inner (smaller) lights on a W215 CL-Class are not part of the Bi-Xenon system.

Thanks for the reply, i do understand how the bi-xenon work, it is no working at all

I took the car against the wall, operated the high beam switch, No high-beam is generated from the xenon light, only the inner (smaller) light produces the high beam.

Tried the same with a colleges CL55 2003, Once you pull back on the High beam Switch, both the Xenon lense and the inner(smaller) light produce high-beam.

On my cl this feature doesn't work at all.

Any associated fuses, relays to be looked at.

Thanx

sounds as you you still need to verify that they are indeed, bixenon. you just
made a casual inspection and you see that it is a projector design. since it is
so easy for folks to perform modifications to cars now, i would look even closer
to determine if you *really* have bixenon HIDs and not just halogen projectors,
or single stage HIDs.

a simple inspection of the bulb would reveal if halogen or HID. also, if you see
a ballast attached to each headlight, that will confirm HID.

but to confirm bixenon feature, you may need to examine the wiring carefully,
or remove the bulb and inspect the cutoff plate to see if it is of a fixed or
moveable design (bixenon)

Thanks for the reply,

I have already taken of the bulb and checked, its has a Philips DS2 bulbs installed, as far as the wiring is concerned, the wiring is intact. Couldn't inspect the Cut-off plate because its a very confined place , will try removing the light out and have a good look.

Anyways, is there no fuse/relay as such, controlling the headlights.

Wanna swap that first and then move on further.

thanx
