Softclose not working on drivers side.

Hello!

My softclose function is not working on the drivers side (left)
But it works perfectly on passenger side and the trunk.

What could be wrong ?

Best Regards
Morgan, Sweden.

Search the forum. This has been posted about many times.

It is your drivers side pneumatic door lock, PSE circuit or an associated hose leak.

probably the plastic puck piece cracked and is not holding air. do you a whoosh sound from the front off the door? if this is the problem you can probably epoxy the plastic piece.

Wasn't there a replacement kit posted here that is significantly cheaper than oem?

p.s. if it's not the crack in the plastic puck causing the problem i have a driver's side unit the dealer replaced under warranty. everything worked but the soft close. the puck was cracked and i have epoxied it so well it will never crack again. if needed i'll sell it for $80 plus shipping.

This is quite the pain. I replaced it several months back.

When you close the door and it doesn't catch, can you hear air escaping in the door?

Keep in mind though after several closes the PSE will detect a timeout and will shut that circuit down until the PSE fuse is pulled or the battery is disconnected.

Hi Adam i have a similar problem. The other day i couldn't get into my car using the keypad i had to use the metal key..last year sometime i heard a loud boom sound on the drive side and my soft closing feature stopped working but the passenger side kept working along with the trunk soft close feature..i would hear a swooshing sound on the driver side..periodically my lock button wouldn't work and then sometime work so i had it up at my tech shop yesterday he put it on the computer tested the pump in the trunk to make sure it was getting power..which it was..he checked the fuse it had blew he changed it the locks still wasnt working..i had to make run and soon as i left the locks started working along wit my trunk and driver and passenger side soft close was working and then it stopped..my tech thinks its my pneumatic door lock actuator..he sayin that since its bad its throwing everything off..what do u think?

What you have explained is the classic (in the case) drivers side pneumatic lock unit rupture. Same exact thing is what happened to me.

I replaced the door lock unit which was a pain and costly. Now as you can see in my above posts you can order repair units which makes the cost more palatable.

guys, remember i have the unit as stated above for $80 plus shipping. everything worked on my driver's side door except for the soft close. since epoxying the puck i would assume the soft close now works and all other functions worked before it was replaced. if the problem is not the crack in the puck which you can fix, mine should work for you. it's off a 2004 cl600. i can get the part # if interested.

Hello, I haven't heard any air leak!
but like "awiner" said, the computer will shut down the air circuit. I am on holiday right now, but i will check if it i cracked when I get home!

Best regards from tenerife

I had the same issue. Pulled the fuse under the rear seat. Heard a mechanical noise. Replaced fuse. Works fine!

It will likely stop working again a few times after replacing the fuse

Check for a broken wire where the loom goes from the door to the body of vehicle, these are common for wires breaking in that loom.

So, exactly where is fuse f62 on a 2003 CL600?
I looked at the fuse box under the passenger side of the rear seat and expected to see numbers, but did not.

You wont find numbers. But the fuse is where your looking, top row towards the middle. Yellow 20 amp. There may be two, its ok to pull both. Just make sure to get them inserted in the correct location again.

Thanks Adam.

There were three 20's in a row.
Pulled those fuses, re-installed, and it's working now.

I believe (have to check the records) that the mechanism has been replaced on this car. I didn't believe that was the issue, as the lock works very quickly and there was no sound from an air leak.

Wish I had taken a picture or made notes. I did not. I will tell you that after pulling the fuse once per week for about 3 weeks, the soft close worked fine for over a year.

Right before i sold it, it started acting up again, needing the fuse pulled every 3 or 4 days.

I am betting one of the guys on this board can post an exact description of which fuse. I did ID it perfectly for the guy that bought the car, and he may have made a note. I can email him (I think I stil have an email address) and see if he can respond here.

BTW, I miss this board (having 11 cars from 5 different counties aged from 1949 to 2007 puts me in more than one automotive type board), I just want you all to know, this was probably the MOST helpful board of any of the boards I have been on. Never know, I may get the bug for another CL600 somewhere down the line. Still the most elegant, nicest ride to work I have ever had. Even beats the Ferrari 400i.

Have fun guys.
