Cl 600 2003 power loss ...

Dear All,

Here is my on going saga... Bought a CL 600 for 10.5 k pounds in April 12 full history and Mercedes tier 1 warranty on a monthly pay as you go contract at 120 £ a month ....

Anyway I was driving back from France having driven over to go to Paris from London, I noticed a sudden loss of power when accelerating on the motorway and misfire , the kick in from the boost was not there nor the tell tail turbo sounds.
Took it to a French merc dealer there an then, they star tested it , scratched heads and said low compression in cylinder 11, but they were not sure and so it was shipped off to another dealer the next day for further investigation... They confirmed the same, but were not happy to quote with out stripping it down to resolve matters.

Merc warranty didn't want the car fixed in France so they arranged for the car to be shipped back to the UK, to a dealer near to my home .. It's there now ! Here is the list so far.. New coil pack, 24 plugs, new hydraulic tappets set, new cam shafts, both sides, several engine flushes, anti freeze, oil and filters,,, about 6.5 k of parts, god knows how much labour...... Must be at least a week plus..

And still I have no boost ! So it's beeping reinvestigated for the initial problem...

As soon as I did the test drive I thought something was wrong, if you don't know the car you would think its fast as it was but with out the turbos seemingly giving you the extra umph it's only half the car ....

It runs smooth as silk now and revs freely but all the gut wrenching power and g force is as flat as a pancake ...

Has any one any clues for such a problem as merc in temple fortune seemed to of missed something telling me everything is fixed .. Not !

Thank goodness for the tier 1 warranty ...

It was probably a failed IC pump or a boost leak.
