If you spend some time reading posts on this forum, you will come across a few people that say "there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes".

Spend a little more now or spend a lot later (on repairs).
Good luck!

Silver MY03 CL500 w/AMG Sport Pkg
Well, mine has 65K and the AMG sport pkg. and is an 03.... but is Bright Silver 8).

Would suggest that you get the 04 or newer as the 03 was in mid shift on some of its equipment and as I have come to find out more expensive and difficult to properly mod with and without stock equipment.

i don't think the cl500 has a sport package, and if it does it's very trivial

talking about purchasing an ABC equipped car and using the word "budget" in the same statement is very contradicting lol. be warned the abc system is very expensive to maintain but besides the ABC, the cars are pretty reliable. obviously the newer the car is the more issues will have been worked through and the 03+ cl55 has a supercharger and almost 500 horses stock but might cost significantly more than the cl500

and like everyone else said, good luck!

He is correct. If you want a budget ride, do the coil over conversion and get rid of the ABC suspension. Without ABC, the CL is not that expensive to own.

They have anti roll bars on that conversion?

The op needs to double his budget.

The CL does have a sport option. Lower panels are all different and the AMG wheels. Pedal accents etc..

I don't need to PIMP my ride.

Mercedes did the job right.

No need to F&%k it up!

the conversion to coilovers wouldn't be considered "pimping" your ride or whatever you and xzhibit on mtv want to call it, because technically it is a downgrade from a hydraulic set up. however the abc system was never perfected by mercedes in the first place and should have never been implemented....

WRONG! My 02 has the more subtle base skirts and bumpers caps. The AMG sport option has AMG body work. The base CL does not. Do you homework man!

Let's face it.Most guys here on this Forum are driving neglected, multiple owner, high mileage clunkers. Desparate to keep them running. They only represent a minute amount of the total CL owners.

I can fix my CL ABC system myself. I am not at the mercy of the stealer.

I bought mine because of the active suspension. Mine has had one ABC pump in 11 yrs.And nothing more than scheduled maintenance otherwise.

They may say AMG.but they are not the sport pieces.

Compare my pic with the AMG listed on Ebay. The Sport has the same cladding as the as the CL55. Been drinking tonight?

If so? I stand corrected.
yes if i'm not mistaken that is the case. all i know is my cl500 model has amg stamped body paneling. the 03 models got slight changes in styling but they are very minor like the foglight openings being higher and i think the front bumper sits an inch or two lower

edit: if that is your garage i must say i am quite jealous

perhaps my car came with the sport option and i am unaware. i remember looking up the vin number but don't recall seeing the sport option so i figured all w215's came with the amg body

now i stand corrected!

and it must be nice having all that room to work on your cars...i unfortunately only have a 2 car garage, with 2 cars in it so working on it sometimes feels claustrophobic

you seem to have gotten a very lucky w215 then! when i bought my car at 58k miles it had already had the abc pump replaced once, and then went out again at 70k a few months later

Mine was on its third ABC tandem pump by 70,000 miles. Miguel's car is the exception to the rule.

and i can see now why you've held on to it for so long as i would do the same and probably would've never gotten rid of my abc if it had a track record like that
