Weird, squeaky, belty noise at idle

CL 600 is running great. No malfunctions, no problems whatsoever.

Only at idle I hear that squeaky noise coming from the engine. Mildly squeaky, not too loud, but not sexy at all. Car has ~78,000 miles. I will take it for a checkup this week but wanted to see if anyone heard something similar. Could it be one of the belts?

This happens on the V8 as well.

Sometimes its pulleys (the tensioner sometimes).

For me, I used a brass brush while the engine was running and cleaned off the metal pulleys. Sometimes they get caked with a think layer of belt that causes noise.

Also I ran the brass brush over the back side of the belts to de-glaze them.

This took care of the noise for me. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you. I will try that also. For now, I gave it a high rpm ride and it already sounds better

If you haven't done so already, change the belt tensioner, idler pulley and belt. It's good preventative maintenance anyways even if it doesn't solve your issue, but hopefully it does!

Thank you! Service B is coming up soon and I will add this to the list.

Exactly. I did mine recently. While you are in there do them all.
