Hello. I inspect the strut this weekend, the problem is the rubber head.
I remover the strut and change for the other used strut (this change the lower silentblock) and the noise disappeared.
I very happy
A greeting

Yeah the rubber at the top of the strut had been showing up as a common problem lately

I too have a thumping noise when driving my CL500 at low speed & especially on rough roads. I've shimmed the gaps on the strut mounts (below the round nuts) with custom made rubber shims. The rears can also be done the same way but you'll have to remove the struts from the car in order to get access to the top strut mounts. I hate to say this but the thumping noise's still there. While removing the rear struts, I've noticed one of the strut's bottom bushings has a very small tear but I left it alone since I didn't know that bushing can be purchased & replaced. I've also inspected all upper & lower control arm bushings & some of them do have minor cracks but I've considered it's normal wear & tear for a 14-yr old car. Other than this little thumping noise, car is in great shape. I do all the maintenance myself. As part of the preventative maintenance, I've replaced all 4 accumulators & have flushed the ABC, power steering with 10 quarts of Pentosin CHF11s, new filters & rodeo afterward. No sagging in any corners even if I let it sits for over a month in the garage. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Any bushing that has a crack in it is a bad bushing.

Crissus et al, I've got the bushings for the bottom rear struts & planned to replace both this coming weekend. I had disconnect the rear height sensor's linkages in the past to work on the rear suspension & it screwed up the height in the rear (one side ended up sitting slightly higher than the other) so I had to take the car into the dealer for them to re-adjust the height. Just wondering if you had the same problem when replacing the strut bushing.

Crissus, I've replaced the 2 rear bottom strut bushings yesterday, however the rumbling/thumping noise still there. While replacing the 2 bushings, I've also noticed the 2 rear wheel hub's bushings (same part #'s) where the lower control arms are attached to, are also very loose so I'm going to replace them next. I hope this will fix the problem as I can't stand the noise. It bugs the heck out of me.
