I've tried everything to get the remote to open/close the windows.

From what I've read it's an infrared signal to the drivers door handle. I've stood 10ft away, 2ft away and 2" away. The lights flash when I unlock, then flash again when I hold the button down but no joy.

The manual seems to indicate this is a standard feature.

I've also tried with the Keyless Go to no avail.

Is it possible this feature was disabled by the original buyer? My car doesn't beep when I lock or unlock it either.

 

Mine works, most of the time, but I have to almost actually touch the IR receiver in the door handle with the key. I use it to roll the windows all up normally as I get irked by the non-auto-up on the rear windows. But I will have to stand right by the door to get it to work and it's temperamental at best. I think with a new, stronger key fob it would be improved, my old car had a new key and I could lock the doors from 500' away. It didn't have keyless go though so I don't know if that makes a difference.

 

Mine works if I am practically touching the window on the door handle. It worked much better on the W210.

 

I only have one smart key and it has brand new batteries in it. I've held the end of the key right against the IR receiver and nuthin. :/ I did put a new shell on the smart key but it works perfect in the ignition.

With the Keyless Go you're supposed to be able to hold the door handle and that no worky either.

It will work from the climate controls tho.

Both my GS400 and S4 did this without issue. Kind of frustrating.

To open all windows, unlock the car, let go of the button, press and aim at the door handle.

To close, reverse the procedure.

I just fixed this problem on my 2004 CL 500. This you tube video nails the issue. Worked exactly as the video said. Hopefully this will help you too!
