Any headlight restoration kit sold at the auto parts store will work

or even toothpaste will work but you need to polish for a long long time

yes and if you want to clean them inside, easy too
just heat up the plexiglass arount 90°celsius and use a large screwdriver to pull the glass off

I have removed the thin layer of plexiglass, and replaced it with a new layer, but I never heard of removing the glass in order to clean the inside. How would you properly seal it after the cleaning ??? ( 2001 CL500 )

You just heat it and stick it back on using the same adhesive

it is difficult to get a good complete seal

or

once opened remove the adhesive as good as you can and use boat grade silicone to get a perfect seal
