2006 CL65, Neither door nor shifter keyless works
Hello,
I've read quite a bit about door handles and shifters being finicky and failing often. However, it seems obscure to me that both doors as well as the shifter do not recognize the key and function properly. Could all three really be faulty?
Car locks/unlocks/starts perfectly fine with the key buttons and being inserted in the key slot. Battery in the key was replaced.
Keyless fuse under the rear seat was checked. It is fine.
Also, when the start/stop button on the shifter is pressed, the "Key not recognized" message pops up, so theoretically the car recognizes that the shifter button is being pressed.
I bought this car from a dealership in Illinois and only got one key with it. I am almost inclined to believe that somehow the key wasn't fully programmed/married to the keyless GO system.
I'd simply like to see if there is another simple possibility that would cause all keyless go functions to not operate. Any insight is appreciated.
P.S. Many sellers claim that W220/W215 door handles are interchangeable, is this true?
P.S.S. When searching for specifically Keyless GO door handles, I've come across handles with the large button on the handle itself, as well as ones with a small sensor under the key hole. My car has the large buttons on the handle. Are they both Keyless GO? If not, a whole lot of sellers are misleading potential buyers.
Thanks in advance. Love the car. Looking forward to putting many miles on it and being a part of this community.

You may just have a bad key fob.
I've got a 2005 CL65 with the keyless go. It came with two key fobs that look just like most other Mercedes keys of that period. At first both keys worked with the keyless go feature, then one of them quit working with it but it still works in the ignition, and unlocks the doors with the fob buttons. I think I recall dropping it on the driveway. Replacing batteries didn't help. The other identical key still works completely. Long story short, I suspect that one of them is malfunctioning.

That's what I am inclined to believe. Or that I have a non-Keyless GO key. The only part number on my key I found was 204Y50800200, but my local dealer couldn't confirm this as a correct part number for a key. The Keyless GO key part number I was given is 23076603069999.
Is anybody able to confirm that my key is Keyless GO?
Ordering a new key is not a problem, but I'd like to confirm that my key is the culprit of this issue first.
Thanks in advance.
