CL 600 unusual rear tire wear
We have a 2002 CL600 that is wearing out rear tires in just a few thousand miles. Bought this car with OK tires on it, they looked good for at least another year or so. In about 3000 miles they were bald! Even wear across, and both worn at the same rate. We thought maybe the tires were bad. Had a set of used Goodyears put on in October just to get by until we can get new ones in summer. Again, same thing, bald. around 2500 miles and 2 months. I know everyone is thinking we do burnouts all the time, but no, just normal driving. I've never seen anything like this. Could it be a differential issue? Could the alignment be that bad off to wear tires this bad?
Thanks for opinions.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I get 5k out of my rear tires, but I drive like a maniac. I've also never put used tires on the car, so it's hard to judge. Have the alignment checked, and buy a decent set of new tires. See what happens. I wouldn't expect more than 12-15k out of them even driven lightly, it's a heavy car and it's hard on tires.

Do you have the wider 275/40/18 staggered rear tires ?
i get only 12,000 miles on my rear tires , front lasted 40,000 plus
buy from a store with a good mileage warranty and they should replace them free if the wear is even .
one way to help extend life is to buy the same size tire front and rear so you can rotate , either 245/45/18 or 265/40/18 work equally well front or rear , then you'll get much more mileage by rotating
