ABC leak, hepl!

I have a 2002 CL500, like it a lot! I understand the usual problems with these cars, but I could use a bit of diagnostic help. Just had the ABC fault show up today. I checking under the hood I find an oily "spray" pattern coming from the the top of what I think is the ABC reservoir. Specifically the cap. Has anyone seen this before? I don't want to start just replacing parts. There does not appear to be any leaks on the big valve body in front of this reservoir.I would appreciate any and all help.
See attached photo.

Thanks ever so much.

when fluid sprays out the top of the cap what's usually happened is an accumulator had failed

first fill the reservoir to the proper level and see if the warning goes away . Get pentosin chf11s from the auto parts store or your or your favorite online seller (Amazon is usually cheapest in the larger 5 and 10 liter sizes)

if the warning light it doesn't go away after filling to the proper level , or starts briefly going off just when driving over bumps you'll need to change the accumulators .

If the accumulators are failed, you will get a flash warning over bumps but the system would work fine. Is your light on all the time? White or red warning? The fluid coming out is as above, a symptom, and not the cause. Find the cause first.

Check for leaks under the car. The plastic panels can hold a lot of fluid. The front valve block is in front of the left front wheel, and it's usually a hose there or in the engine compartment that lets go first if you actually have a leak. Replace it immediately if it's leaking, it will fail catastrophically and cause other damage when it does soon if it's leaking now.

This is what happens when an accumulator has failed releasing nitrogen into the system and thereby venting out the vent hole in the cap (as designed).

Replace both your accumulators as the other one isn't going to be far behind in rupturing and stranding you.
