Exclamation Misfire and Knocksensors relation

misfire can have a lot of causes

as I have plenty of time to spend on my hobby, I have been testing all kind of things to get the V12 Biturbo engine running like new

now the last possible cause for this M275 engine to cause misfire, are the knock sensors

nobody went into this because nobody really tested all causes
I did

the knock sensors are crystals, who act like microphones, they mostly NEVER fail, their function:

Ensuring knock-free operation of the engine with different fuels in all operating conditions from idling speed up to maximum speed of engine, from an
engine load of more than approx. 40%. For this purpose, if uncontrolled combustion (knocking) occurs, the ignition angle at the relevant cylinder or
cylinders is retarded.

so here is what I found

if your engine supports are dead, engine will knock

it seems that on this engine, the ignition retarding works by 3 cylinders, so 1-2-3 4-5-6 ect

now the driver side engine support on my car was dead, split in two, and no more fluid inside
that side was so knocking
and my weird ignition faults where driver side most, and by 3 cylinders. 10-11-12 mostly

now that I replaced both engine supports, my engine runs like new

hope this helps before you blame your ignition. verify your engine supports !
