M113K into a CL
All,
Why can't I put the M113K 5.4 liter Kompressor motor in my 2001 CL? Is the oil pan bigger/different? I thought they were the same configuration as a regular M113? What are the key differences? Just wanting a bit more power.

much cheaper to sell your cl500 and buy a cl55

You need not just a m113k but also the m113k ecu and so many other things from the m113k cars. This swap has been done in other 99-06 Mercedes with m113 to m113k... you’ll spend at least $6000-10,000 when all the re-programming is finished. Sometimes you get lucky and things fall into place, the ignition won’t fight with the ecu, the ecu won’t fight with the tcu, the supercharger clutch works well with your existing software platforms... most often you’ll need extensive experience in using SDS/equivalent software to re program these kinds of swaps. It’s not just hardware swaps and a quick tune like lots of 99-2010 cars
from my research on this matter, and after swapping in a n/*** engine into my cl500, I believe the best route for higher power is a turbo set up, with the superior heads and compression of the n/*** engine. A lot of the guys running 9/10 second quarter mile e55’s and clk55’s say the n/a 55 engine has better capability in the long haul. However the 55k engine is the quick and easy one for big power numbers
for great power on a budget, swap in a n/a 55 engine after rebuilding it for slightly lower compression (to handle the forced induction) with better arms/springs etc, and then add a turbo system with a tune and you should be able to get over 500 horsepower on modest boost, for 4 figure prices if you do the work yourself. The n/*** engines go for like $1500 on eBay...

You can do it, you'll have to get the ecu, esm, and ignition with the donor car. I'm pretty sure if your doing the work yourself it's a way to do it without coughing up 10k+.... don't let anyone discourage you. Just research your *** off. But the turbo Idea sounds cool as hell.

in this link below, looks like he spent about $2000-2500 to get into 500hp territory

I swapped AMG 55 into cl500, and first to document trying coilovers on W215, if we sound discouraging it’s not because we find the idea ridiculous it’s more so based on the fact that some that have gotten the ignition, ecu and motor from a 55k still had programming issues. Just turbo it!
