Water in trunk
Folks,
Ended up with water in trunk which damaged my audio gateway, amp and navi unit. My rear SAM also started acting up. I read a post from Tusabes about a reed valve in the front grill but the photobucket picture doesn't resolve, so any help appreciated. I will get into the trunk and check the source of water, this seems to be a very common issue. My tail lights are in very good condition with no water traces or corrosion. Was wondering if there were any other tips. I don't really want to drill a hole in the floor like some have suggested since water can be forced upwards from the wheel well. Any tips appreciated.
Thanks,
Shiv

I had water in my CL one time before. I had the trunk realigned and never had the issue again. Looks like your CL has had water leaking for a while due to the rust spot that I see unless my eyes are bad. I would first start by drying out the car trunk the best you can. Also how did the water get in? High pressure car wash?

I also have water in my trunk. it started all of the sudden and I have not been able to trace the cause. I checked the alignment of the trunk lid but it seemed fine. I did pull the plug under the spare tire to drain the water and currently have the trunk mat out of the car. Any tips will help.

I too had water damage , my insurance paid over $6000 and it still didn’t fix the issue just the damaged electronics . If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance it covers water damage
I’m looking to make a class action claim against Mercedes for the trunk leak Just like there was a class action for the reed valve . If you’ve had the trunk leak please pm me

the reed valve under passenger windshield is not the cause of this leak . The cl has a trunk leak problem as well , many people have claimed it to be the gasket on the tail lights or third brake light but I do think it can also be the trunk lid alignment . If you lift the trunk lid after a heavy rain you’ll see water dripping down on the right side of the lid by the red buttons

Mine is leaking from higher in the trunk. the area around the speakers is wet when it storms and puddles around the spare tire well. sometimes it leaks and sometimes it doesn't.
