CL600 2002 upgrades?

New member as of today. I recently purchased a 2002 CL600. Love the car and believe I got a great deal. Now looking to see if there are upgrades to add turbo or supercharger or just chips that increase the non-turbo to higher power. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Ironically, after having the CL600 2002 (Black on Black) for about a week, I asked the dealer if I could trade it back for full value and get a 2003. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request (Black on Black) and I am now the owner of a 2003 with 8K miles. Now... looks like RennTech has some interesting upgrades.

How does RennTech upgrade affect fuel economy ?
My 600 is extremely thirsty at best.
Anyone know a specialist Renntech dealer in the UK ?

Suggest you call them at 561-845-7888. Here is their link as well.

I spoke with them myself and they seem very willing to help. The changes that you are looking to perform can be done by sending the engine and transmission ECUs to them. In so far as fuel... not sure how bad a hit you'll take. Most likely given the remarkable power available to you, your diving habits will suck up more fuel then the modifications.

Having driven both for a while, is there any comparison between the two?

You could have spent tons of money on the '02 and it never would have performed like the '03.

For interesting reading, go to: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-r230/77764-anyone-have-renntech-625hp-745tq-upgrade.html

All the '03 and latter 600 motors are the same, aren't they? Simply imaging what those upgrades do! Have fun.

Green E-300 DT,

Thanks for the link... Great info. Regarding the 03' 600 engines (motors usally refer to electric) yes 03-05 are the same.

I'll try to remember that.

So are you glad you "upgraded" the non-turboed 2002 to the much more powerful 2003 engine?
