P0123 CEL and limp mode but only when I kickdown
Hi there my friends
Today on my last trip before winter with my 2003 CL 600 the CEL and limp mode came on while driving.
It occured with motor warm but tyres still a bit cold(I live in Sweden).
I was doing a kickdown on the motorway and the antispinn came on as it should while no traction, but then it was a bit longer in antispinn mode than usual and after that it was in limp mode.
Stopped the car and restarted it and the CEL came on, but car runned good. The second I floored it again, the limp mode was back.
Did another restart of the car and car runs perfectly good up to 80-90 percent giving gas, but with 100%(kickdown button pressed with pedal) limp mode immidiately.
Checked fo error codes and only code given was P0123 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit High Input.
At first my thoughts was a faulty throttle body or sensor on the throttle body, but now I also think of a faulty kickdown switch/sensor(under the pedal) while it is only occuring while doing kickdown(car runs perfect in all other ways but goes to limp mode while kickdown).
I have read a couple of threads, but im not completely satisfied with solution. Was hoping if someone can pinpoint the solution so I dont have to take i to dealer(My good guess 1000 dollars here in Sweden).
I need advise from expertise here.
Thank You

I will go for the change of the pedal.
While the problem only occur while pressing kickdown that is my best guess, but I might be wrong. If that aint fix it I will go for the throttle house.
Does anyone know if it is the same throttle house för the 1999-2002 non turbo CL600 as for the 2003-2006 CL600 Biturbo?
I have found one with partnr A1371410125
Does that one fit in my 2003 CL600 Biturbo?
Best regards

with these cars full of electronics you must forget guess-repairs of you will end up buying the whole car in parts and swapping everything until you found the fault
with a problem like post one you MUST hook it up to a diagnostics
guess what... why do you think that there are so many pedals on ebay .......
you need pedal No A2203000104

pedals have curves and presets programmed

I ordered pedal with NO A2203000104 as you mention. The cost was 140 dollar so that is about the same cost as for leave it to Mercedes dealer for diagnostics(without solving anything).
My simple diognostic says P0123 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit High Input.
What did you mean with "pedals have curves and presets programmed"? Do I have to program the pedal after change or will it otherwise not work properly?
Same if I go on with the throttle house. Will I also there be forced to "program" after change? Otherwise these two procedures should be quite easy to to by myself.
I have found a couple of Part no for the throttle house.
A1371410125 and the very simular A1121410125 and I need help with if one of these work for the 2003 CL600 V12 BITURBO.
A1371410125 I am pretty sure works with the non turbo CL600 MY 1999-2002 and possibly also BITURBO? I dont know. Can someone give me part nr for throttle house 2003 CL600 V12 BITURBO please?
Snow is coming very soon here in Sweden so hopefully it can be a quick change

I still have 3 pedals in a box
after thinking over I might be wrong on the curves presets being in the pedal
but I remember that there are 3-4 curve settings in Xentry
what I see is only one part number for your car
I also just remembered that it is the kickdown switch that fails sometimes
anyway, just try, then if no good return the pedal

Thanks pmercury. Could have bought one of your pedals if I knew my friend.
The pedal should be here this week so fingers crossed.
Does anyone know the correct part nr for a throttle house for a 2003 CL 600 V12 Biturbo?

useless, I have one spare also now
to avoid this you should go true the Throttle tests in Xentry, that avoids buying one very often as not the cause many times
you might want to change the fuel filter

this MUST be done once in a while
but anyway
here is your trottle body

Today I changed the pedal and now the car works just fine. No CEL or limpmode while kickdown. Car works just perfect.
Strange though is that the car still reads P0123 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit High Input while I do a readout and after deleted the code it comes back.
I try to do gearbox reset(the one without star) before reading, but still the P0123.
Im not very keen on also changing throttle house while everything works. See no meaning in that.
Can someone help me understand why the P0123 fault code still remains?
