2006 CL500 Keyless Go Fuse Keeps Blowing
I apologize in advance for the long post but I really have kind of a big problem in here.
So, I am a proud new owner of 2006 CL500 ( almost 2 months for now ) when I bought it I knew it had a few minor issues not deal breakers and started working on them, including the infamous cut cables in the driver's door hinge.
- Keyless entry wasn't working on driver's side and still not working.
- keyless entry on passenger side is working by pulling the handle once to unlock and the second to open the door and the lock button is working.
- shifter knob button ( Start/Stop Engine ) wasn't working, took off the knob, cleaned it and installed it again and it worked.
- trunk keyless entry/unlock working but trunk doesn't rise up unless I pull it, found out the left/driver side piston is not pushing good enough or something so someone has to support the trunk up in the first few centimeters, but does close ok.
- sometimes when I use the keyless go from shifter knob it shows key not recognized but if I push it again it works !
- driver side soft close wasn't working at first, started working by itself later then started acting out on it's own.
- passenger side soft close is working good.
- driver side speakers ( all 3 of them ) weren't working which drove me crazy, but found out the wires were cut in the hinge and extended and soldered them then they work perfectly fine. since they were very hard to find the cut position in which was very near to the car side than the door itself, I didn't look for any other cables that might be broken in the hinge also, but nothing else seemed to be malfunctioning in the door to look for another cut cable.
After fixing the speakers cables, once again I took off the door panel to take out the soft close mechanism/actuator mechanism to check it, nothing seemed visually bad ( I know it doesn't work like that ) but after installing back everything, other problems starting showing gradually over 3 days,
- first, can't open the trunk from outside while the car is locked and key fob is on me.
- the car lock button in the trunk next to the trunk lock doesn't work anymore.
- keyless entry on passenger side isn't working anymore.
- keyless go isn't working ( shifter knob button ).
Next day;
- locking and unlocking with key fob isn't working, just setting the anti-theft system on/off and lights go on as if the car is locked/unlocked but locks are still closed including trunk.
- car only locks and unlocks with the valet/physical key.
Third day;
- trunk is stuck and doesn't open from driver's door button or key fob or even the key itself !
Looked into the fuses behind the passenger seat and found a couple of things,
- interactive seats fuse F63 30amp was swapped with a 20amp fuse and is good not burned ( don't know what that is honestly but thought I would mention it )
- central locking fuse F62 20amp wasn't even there. ( inserted a new 20amp fuse a few days before the upcoming problems started showing ). don't know if it's relevant.
- keyless go fuse F58 7.5amp is burned out and every time I replace it it blows with a noticeable spark once it contacts the connection plates before even going all the way in it's place.
- F73 40amp is not present ( don't know what that is either and not sure i should have it in my model )
So, I unplugged almost everything I know/suspect that is connected to the keyless go system including the following and tested the grounded F58 fuse to see if the problem was solved ( using a test screw driver connected one side to the +ve terminal of the car battery and the lead side of the fuse ) instead of burning through fuses ( I did burn 4 fuses first then converted to that method ) even went through unplugging more things in the trunk that are irrelevant :
- shifter knob.
- driver side soft close mechanism.
- driver side door handle and IR sensor.
- PSE pump.
- keyless entry/go module.
- all the cables going to the trunk locking/unlocking mechanism.
- Third brake light.
- trunk locking buttons ( inside the trunk itself ).
- trunk emergency unlock ( green button ).
So far no luck, still F58 is grounded ( keeps burning fuses ) and ran out of things to unplug and test !
I know it's a VERY VERY LONG post, but I wanted to be detailed about what I did incase I missed something or messed something up.
Any help or advice is welcome.
Thank you.
I extended each one of them and soldered them and hopefully they stay intact as long as it can possibly be.
