Pls help me identify this on passenger side

Hello everyone. I just had been through overhauling the heater core and discovered this item in the process. In the engine bay behind the fuse box under the cowl.

Not sure what it is or why it has been cut (by previous owner). Help!!

In my opinion, it is a wire and a plug for the windshield heating. This is the case with my 2002 CL600.
You have the original windshield - maybe it was replaced.

How funny, somebody else asked this on benzworld.org and it is indeed for the windshield heater

@M137 do you know the resistance of the heating element? My windshield has been replaced and whilst the connector is still connected, I'd like to know if there are actual traces
