W220 coilovers on a W215?
Just curious. I recently saw a fully adjustable coilover kit for the 2000-06 W220 that says it doesn't fit a 2000 W215. It caught my attention because the price was much less than the popular kits available for the CLs.
Is there a specific reason why a coilover kit for W220s won't work on a W215? From what I see, the mounts are identical. In fact, some W220 parts are required to fully complete a coilover conversion on a C215 (particularly the PS pump and lower control arm for the sway bar.) Even the W215 front upper strum mount appear to be at roughly the same angle as the W220. In so much as the CL appears to be little more than an S-class coupe in many ways, is there a good reason why the coilovers wouldn't work on our cars? I've already done the ABC conversion (Strutmasters) but want to swap out the fronts for adjustability. The car already has W220 lower control arms and front/rear sway bars. They were pretty much "plug and play" so I don't see why the W220 coilovers themselves should be an issue. Is it a matter of different spring ratios, shock dampening or the like? If so, couldn't that be addressed by employing a fully adjustable coilover? I'm not looking for a discussion on which conversion kit is "better" or yet another "Why do it" debate. I'd like a technical answer the above question if there is one.
Again, guys....I just want some guidance on this one.
Is there a structural or engineering reason why a coilover kit designed for a W220 can't be used on a W215?
I'm sure one of you "suspension" mavens can answer this one. Your thoughts, guys. Thanks in advance!

I would question if they had the slanted mounting plates on the fronts.
