Retrofitting Distronic to W215
I'm thinking of retrofitting Distronic to my '04 CL500 W215. I've done some research online, and think I have a good handle on the parts I will need. I have Xentry and will work with BenzNinja on the coding, so think that is covered as well. I do have a couple of questions, if someone can answer...
1) My year requires a radar unit with the separate controller under the passenger floorboard. Slightly newer models had the electronics included in the radar unit, so wiring is much easier ( no coax), and just power and CAN lines from the radar head. Could I use this newer unit in my '04 ( Can signals from radar unit vs CAN signals from the floorboard controller???). Makes finding the controller and wiring harness less of an issue, as I could make my own harness.
2) The grill for Distronic has a plastic protector in front of the radar unit. Could I add a plastic guard in front of the radar unit, or must I find a used grill with the proper "Star" from mercedes?
3) Any positive results of someone doing this retrofit??
