can I install a staggered set on a 2003 CL ?
Hi everyone, now that I have owned my 2003 CL500 for two years and worked thru a few significant issues, with the car only at 45,000 miles, I am interested in installing a set of OEM OMG wheels, the car has the original 17” wheels ( NO SPORT PACKAGE) that look very classy but I wanted something original and a bit sportier so I was thinking to use the size for the Sport Package: 8.5J x 18” in the front and 9J x 18” in the back.does anyone here think there could be an issue with since since the car wasn’t born with the Sport Package ?

An extra 1/2" of wheel width isn't going to substantially affect the tire width you can mount -- maybe 20mm more(?). With a staggered setup, you won't be rotating your tires, and many tire manufacturers cut their treadwear warranties in half when tires aren't rotated. Maybe matching tire circumferences front and rear isn't a concern on your CL, but the selection of tires in the staggered dimension you want could be less. Staggered setups can become a headache, and IMO, just aren't worth the slight difference in appearance that likely only you will notice.
