Finally saw one in person *pics*
all i can saw is wow. i have put all my sckeptisism to rest. i love the new CL. I went to the Miami Auto show and they had it on display. This car is simply stunning in person!

Just got back from the same show and I must say that the new cl is hideous. I think this will be a bad move for Mercedes. I'll be keeping mine for some time.

The headlights look like 6 series headlights. The rear and tails basically look like the new ML (just on a car's body). The side profile is new-CLK'ish. I assume the pics above are a NON-AMG Sport Appearance package CL. Maybe that's what it's missing?

very nice.. i see those test mules by my job all the time and it looks no where like camry or any sorts of cars you people mention. besides japanese brands are copying MB style. not the other way around.

Not really sure what you guys are looking at but that thing is GORGEOUS WOW WOW WOW That thing makes the old CL look So outdated.. If I was a bit older and setup a little more I would be first in line...........

Velvet Fog-You are absolutely right, especially the front end that is very much like the Solara. However, the CL63 AMG will be much different in the front and will appear to be more aggressive and sporty. Don't give up on it yet

I'll reserve final judgement until I see one in person. It just seems like Mercedes is losing it's distinctive styling. Everything is getting the squinty eyed headlights and rounded *** end styling you see on every Japanese car on the market.
Think back through the models, they were instantly recognizable. Now you don't know the car is a Mercedes until you see the star.
I still drive a 208 because I don't like the 209 or the 230's jellybean styling. It was love at first sight with the 215. I saw one yesterday morning and it almost made me pull the trigger on one of Glauser's 30K discounted 2006 models.
Here's a review of the CL550 even though the article is titled incorrectly. Look at the pics.
Think back through the models, they were instantly recognizable. Now you don't know the car is a Mercedes until you see the star.

Hey JUSTFORD did you see that green CLS550 that was there? It seems that most of their cars there had the worst colors. I wish they had the CLS63 open i wanted to see the diff. inside between 55 and 63.

The pictures do not do the new CL justice ! I happend to see a CL550 at the dealership a few days ago, and believe me I was actually stunned by how good this car looks. Very aggressive stance and this wasn't even the AMG sport package. The new S-Class was "weak" in the pictures and "much better" in person. The new CL is "surprisingly great" in person. You will be pleasantly surprised when this thing hits the road next month.

MBZFAN55 Did you see a launch edition car? My dealer is saying only launch edition CL550's will be produced in November & December. I am not sure if they are making that up or being truthful.

I've got pictures, but unfortunately with the "suspension" of uploading pics on this site, you won't be able to see the beauty. It was a "factory rep" car at the dealership to introduce the personel to the new CL. It was not a "launch Edition", but a Iridium Silver / Savanna Cashmere CL550 with 9 spoke wheels. It had both PO1 and PO2 option packages and Distronic 2. The dealer said since only several hundred were being shipped to the US before the end of the year he guessed that only Launch Editions would be seen. He did add that MBUSA was verifying ALL orders to determine the buyer is the buyer and NOT a wholesaler or other dealer. Allegedly orders that can not be confirmed to be "real" buyer orders are being cancelled bu MBUSA. The "rumor" is 3000 CL's are being made "in the near future" and that half will be shipped to the US.

Mercedes is gone physically, but still in my heart.
Personally, I agree with the statement that it looks like a Solara. So what if it's a bit more aggressive than a Solara. The Solara is what, $20-25,000? This is going to be an $80,000+ car. Certainly not impressed. I like the old CL much more.
