CL600 vs CL63?

Suffice it to say, we can barely wait. The dealer said it would get on the January production line and arrive in April, maybe March.
The one option we don't have is the iPod integration kit. Anyone know how complicated it would be to order it and have our dealer up here install it?

Personally, I don’t see any differences in performance in both cars since I drove the both. However, once you drive the CL63 with manual puddle shift (this car turns up to be a very sporty car). I like the CL600 interior especially the wood color, however, I find the AMG budget in each seats are more exciting to look at. The reasons that I chose CL63 over the CL600…
1- AMG Body kit (CL63)
2- Beautiful exhaust sound
3- Cheaper than the CL600

Yes you are right, but I never even thought of driving the car in a manual mode. The CL600 steering comes in wood you barely recognizes the paddle shifters. While in the CL63 once you sit in the car you would notice the paddle shifts, so that’s why I drove it in both automatic and manual mode. I am not sure about the CL600 but in the CL63 it gives you a red sign in the Gauge that’s says its time to change gear while you are driving. Add to that, the 7 gearbox is developed by AMG which I am pretty sure it will be way different than the one in the CL600 5 speed auto.

I'll be in a car that equalls or exceeds the 65 perfomance at a fraction of the cost.

No contest! I have decided to pass on the CL63 and going with the 600 and having a 550 AMG kit put on as well as a Kleemann Stage 2 mod. Torque, torque and more torque. These heavy cars require more ability to do work and the TT V12 delivers just that. 63 shouldnt even be an option for this car.

However, if you meant that the CL600 would outperform the CL63 you "might" be right but by a small margin in a straight line only. Other than that CL63 will have the advantage over the CL600 especially in the track.

Sorry, I didn’t understand what did you mean exactly? If you meant tuning the CL600 then that’s a completely different story!

I might be bias because I'm used to V12 motor, but I'll pick CL600 over CL63. Not much fan of a V8 motor even on Supercharged 55s let alone Normally Aspirated (I think NA should be left to pure track car since the Turbo isn't much used anyways when it comes to speed out of corner, ie. loose traction, but hey CL isn't a track car).
Soo... No 63 motor on any big bodied benz for me. Maybe on a C-class or CLK :P but not on S, CL, even smaller CLS (which I drove and it was OK, but still lacking Torque IMO)

Maybe if somebody puts a powerful Kleemann supercharger on the S63 or CL 63 it would give the needed extra kick that's being looked for.
With racing exhaust, headers, cats, ECU, maybe somewhere over 750 horsepower is very possible.

If you are planning on tracking frequently then you should be looking at a GT3 or an F430 type car. If you are tracking once in a while or never than the 600 is the car to get. Why get an inferior engine so you have slightly better track performance for the 1% of track driving time. And as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile times the TT V12 always puts up much better numbers in real life. The factory always lists the stats as being the same for marketing reasons but anyone who has driven both can really feel the difference the torque makes.

Now I am going to try to take a picture of my CL 600 and get it posted here but I have a small case of digital camera retardation and my wife is out of town. man that sounds sad.

Both the 63s are faster with less torque

Think again. You have to go to page 4 to find an E63. Judging by drag times they are no where even close to most E55's on the dragstrip.

The V12 biturbo really allows the owner to accelerate with smoothness and comfort; which is something i truly like about the 65/600 Mercedes.
And also, if there's couple of coins lying around, you can increase the displacement of the 600 engine!

I made my mind up. I doubt I get anything for the moment until I am not very sure of what I want.
Plus is not like I dont have a car to drive at the moment. Don't want to be stuck with a car I am not happy with for 2 - 3 years.
Leaning towards the cl600 with a nice bodykit and an engine ecu upgrade though.
Who cares about cl63 anyways is not like it can go on the track and out perform a porsche, and I don't go tracking.

Stock Cl600 would be more than enough

I don't see the extra torque played any differences

For me i bought the cl63 just because a lot more older people will prefer the 600 over the 63 and I am still relatively young.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Its true though you don't buy these cars to track and i do believe the 600 is faster than the 63 in a straight line but since I don't really drive that fast on a daily basis the looks and the handling of the amg cars definitely more than makes it all up for me, and when there is an occasion for me to have some fun on the highway i dont believe the cl is really lacking any grunt
If it does trying filling it up with the 100 octane gas.
But to each his own and i think the 600 is a fantastic car.
My cousin just bought a brabus black s600 and it looked sick.![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
Here is pics of his Cl65 and SLR he is a benz freak.![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
I will take better pictures really soon.

CL 63 vs 600
Well i just got an '08 CL63. I'm traveling and at the moment and I am driving a friends '08 CL600 and I have to say even though these are both CL's they are completely different with regards to the way they get from zero to 120...
The 63 is one of the best sounding cars in the mercedes line up, and stops on a dime. Not to mention I love the looks for a STOCK car. As for the 0-60 the factory says they are the same; 4.5, but I must admit the 600 with almost an extra 150 FT lbs of torgue feels a bit faster especially from 60 to 120... the power band is completely different and much smoother in the 600. In the 63 u get there but for what ever reason the 600 does it in a more elegant way. Maybe it is the exhaust in the 63 and the noise it makes when you punch it, don't get me wrong here I LOVE it, but I think the 600 is just a touch faster. Not to mention if you punch from a dead stop (with the traction control off) at around 45-55 MPH or so the rear end breaks loose once the turbos get going.
Either way you can't go wrong as these are 2 very stunning vehicles. The 600 leans to the classy elegant side while the 63 is all about RACING.
cheers...
