CL-550 Pictures enclosed Majestic Black w/congnac interior
Picked up a 2008 CL-550 (216) last week.
Majestic black (112), Premium II PO2
Cognac/Back Premium leather (807)
Distronic II with blid spot assit (233) (234)
Black Ash wood trim (736)
Car came in last week and Im replacing a 2004 CL-500 (215). Hopefully the pictures due it justice, however with ambient light changes one can see variations. I tried to take pictures under different light conditions to give you an example.
Not being a great fan of black (due to the upkeep and magnifing when dirty) I was a bit apprehensive to this combo. After seeing it clean and dirty, it seems no more or less than any other color.
The majestic balck has a misting of silver and perhaps a touch of gold metallic. Some one said it better than I about the majestic black on the newsgroup, "when it is daylight with sun it looks like a black metallic, if it is dusk or night it looks like a rich dark blue metallic".
The cognac brown chip sample in the brochure seems darker when I held it up to the actual in the sunlight. I actually think it looks better on the vehicle than the chip shows. The chip seems close to a rust shade where the actual is a milk chocolate shade.
So far it looks like Mercedes got it right with the CL-550. A far cry from my quirky 04 CL-550.
If you ordering a vehicle, you may want to get it with Distronic II as the additional features are used regularly. I did ask the sales person and the color combo is still available in the CL-550.
The dealer and sales person were super! Still learning.
If I can can answer any other questions, let me know.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Thx for the detailed pics....indeed, a rather dapper color combo![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Any sense so far re: how much maj blk shows micro/macroswirls (esp post hand car wash)?
Agree...Distronic is a must-have option.....I never drive using cruise control (traffic moves rather quickly on SF Peninsula, so no stop-and-go hassles in my daily driving...and enjoy driving too much to not actively manage throttle/brakes)...but Distronic is a major active safety advantage as it warns re: poss front collision risk and links to BrakeAssist.....and optically Distronic eliminates the need for those primitive, ugly "bulletholes" of Parktronic in bumpers....
Congrats.....in past, also owned multiple new copies of CL55, etc, so can fully appreciate how new CL is a marvelously tech-intensive, safe, enjoyable car w/seemingly higher quality/reliability than any car on planet today (and vastly improved over the MBs of earlier this decade, despite even more innovative/useful new technologies)....![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Nice combination...
Rsevinor: Congratulations. I am sending you PM to see if you could email me more detailed high resolution digital shots of the Cognac leather seats and door panels. I am considering this interior color (Cognac/Black) and would like to see close up the grain of leather being used in the CL550 vs the Exclusive leather on the CL600. Thanks. Z356
