yes; I had the same problem on my last cl too. The dealer cleaned out the system several times (gratis), but the problem always came back after a few months. Seems to have been a problem on lots of mercedes in the past few years. Don't know of a permanent solution, but maybe someone else does.

I notice the same odor when I first start the car after it's been sitting in the lot at work during the day. It's a musty smell that lasts a few seconds when the A/C fan starts, then goes away. It must be some mold in the vent system somewhere, which poses a potential health hazard. I mentioned it at my last service at 6000 miles, and I was told the problem was addressed. As usual, though, it was still there the day after I got the car back. Since it doesn't last and I haven't developed a fungal pneumonia yet, I just leave the windows down a few minutes when starting up in the afternoon and live with it. In my experience, the more the dealer messes with the car, the more loose parts they can leave behind causing squeaks and rattles which I know will drive me insane.

hey bud, while i dont have the same problem with my new CL, I did have it with my 2001 E430. My service rep suggested Lysol disinfectant spray followed by Febreeze. It did the trick, at least for as long as I owned the car. Spray them into the intake for the AC/heat while it is running full force. Just a thought!
