Thinking about trading in my CL550 and for a Maserati Gran Turismo MC.

Problem with the Maser is the quality. I know someone who has one (not an MC) and refers to it as a "clunker". You won't get the attention to detail and engineering prowess as Mercedes. Fit and finish isn't gonna be as staunch, overall quality will be more questionable, etc. However, it's an emotional pick. It's a boutique car manufacturer VS a mass market one, Italian culture of engineering and build VS German.
That said, I'd probably do it. The MC is just disgusting looking.... in the best way possible.

After driving my MD's Maserati I definitely knew I was driving smaller car. I have to move the seats all the way to the back and I am a short guy. Only 5'9. The interior quality is definitely not better as well as the technology. The sound and power of the Maserati is breath taking once the sport button is pressed. It's like music to my hears. I think I'm going to flip a coin.

Whoever encourages you to buy Maserati must be your enemy.
The car as beautiful on the outside, is an engineering pos nightmare/failure on the inside.
If you flip the proverbial coin and Maserati is the winner, flip that coin again, because you'll have to buy two of them. One Maserati driving, one being repaired. They should be sold as tandem, btw.
Buddy of mine has one. After being pissed numerous times, after a while he started to laugh. Why? Every so often he could pull up to his driveway to park, but never pull back. The tranny couldn't find reverse gear. Not a joke.
Anyway, if you chose Maserati, let us know how many minutes you enjoyed driving the car.
And be honest about it.

I know for at fact my friend has a 2008 with the F1 transmission and he has been through 3 clutches in only 20k miles. Masterai has address by discounting the F1 transmission and only selling the automatic which has proven to be reliable. Not sure the other week points to be worried about besides that which I will not have to experience.

I've been thinking about the same upgrade but I'll have to wait another year for it
I feel that we shouldn't generalize just because someone's Maserati gave them a lot of problems. When I initially bought my CL550, I got a ABC malfunction at 22000 kms. Every car will give you problems imo. Some may have to experience it more than average while others may not experience it at all.

96 and 08 911 turbos
that modified vehicle is awful.
was considering an 07 GT. the attention to detail blows, and some of the fit and finish sucks. Its an italian car, its got the flair, the looks, and the sound, but thats about it.
Was never so happy to get back into my benz.

An 07 GT? I think you are referring to the wrong car. The Mas GT 2 door was released in 2008. The quattroporte looks like ****. The above car looks good to me. I think the CL exceeds the Mas GT in Technology. Looks would be a 50/50 split.

The GT above, I would have to say isn't tastefully done. Technology wise Mercedes wins hands down but then again it would win if compared to any other make too. You're not paying for a race car or a car with a lot of technology but instead you're paying for the elegance and class that comes with the name Maserati. Happy showing off!

P.S: I change my vote to the CL. IMO it's just as nice if not nicer than the Maser, way more quality/reliable, backed by a large company, and to be honest not much more common (the C216 has sold in very small quantities).
The C216 I think is a keeper.
