Aston Martin DB9
CL/S coupe vs. SL550
Hi all,
I'm in the market for a grand tourer and I'm after one thing, comfort. I've got an Aston Martin DB9 and it's a blast to drive but after an hour my back feels like garbage. I've been in the military a long time and it's taken its toll on the body. I'd like a 2 door that is comfortable. I don't have family so I could care less about passenger room. I've never owned a Mercedes so I don't really know what to look for. Not looking to buy new, but don't want anything older than 8 years.
I've done a ton of reading about Mercedes but most people are concerned with speed and performance, no one really dicusses what's the most comfortable. I've also considered the Bentley GT, but they're kind of common now a day and I'm not sure I like them.
I'm planning to go drive them all but I want to choose a few select models before I go.
Input would be greatly appreciated.

CL550 and S class coupe are definitely comfortable for long trips especially if you get one with dynamic seats which includes a massage function. SL is not nearly as comfortable for long trips.

w212 E63S wagon, w210 E350 wagon, and a variety of other interesting non-Mercedes cars
i just bought a 2008 CL550 on monday. i had been contemplating numerous cars to fill the daily driver role; sl65, maserati gt, fisker, bentley gt etc.
i chose the CL in the end because it had the best value for money for this purpose in the end. it is very luxurious, with all kinds of amenities, and it is powerful and good looking as well.
if you are looking for a sport car - this is not the answer.
but if you are looking for a luxurious ride in a car that is super safe, and solidly built, then this is the right one.
and for peace of mind, i got the extended warranty package for the next 4 years. i dont think you can beat the value proposal in this package.

the cl550 fits your bill, for a lower price.
the s coupe is a better looking car, but the price will astound you !
the sl will feel tight.

Does the coupe have 'magic sky' sunroof like the SL?
I like the newer SL (2013+) and the older coupe (2010-13)
I would be happy with either.
