For the 2008 model year did Mercedes provide with the car when new a sunroof tool to manually close the sunroof?

No tool supplied for 2008 and there might be no place to use it if you had one. The 2007 owner's manual shows the tool and provides instructions on how to use it. There is no mention of the tool in the 2008 owner's manual.
from 2007 owner's manual page 268:
Controls in detail
Power tilt/sliding sunroof
Synchronizing
The tilt/sliding sunroof must be synchronized
following from 2008 owner's manual page 508:
Synchronizing
The tilt/sliding sunroof must be synchronized
Note no mention of manual closing for 2008

closed manually (page 638) - if the tilt/sliding sunroof can only be
opened with a jerking motiom - after a malfunction

Steve thank you for your response. There is a plug above the drivers side sun visor that you can remove so I put a generic allen key in the hardware and it fit but I did not try to turn it and see if the sunroof moved.
