Please stop Whinning!!!
Mbworld, I have slight problem I would like to address.
when I start my CL550 up every time for about 10-15 seconds it makes a Whinning sound
what could be?? One guy said it's the idle pulley another said it's the power sterering pump not sure
so I am asking the experienced,knowledge community.

if it sounds kinda like a jet engine for a short blast on startup , its probably the secondary air pump as Racin_fool suggested. The pump turns on , on cold starts to flow more air into the CATS to reduce rich emissions, after the 30second ish blast of air it shuts off and thats it. Its not super important , not cheap but not exactly expensive either. Ive seen the pumps go for like £192 here for a bosch/OEM , I have also seen videos and guides on how to clean them out and almost "service " them back to working order, by dismantling the pump and also cleaning out the valves actuators with carb cleaner.

When you start your cold engine for the first minute or so an electric motor runs to provide air injection into the exhaust to curb pollution.
You can see it at the front of your motor ... round plastic thing getting clean air through a hose attached to your air cleaner. Take off front half of engine cover (easy) to see it. It's just cold starts, doesn't activate on later warm starts
