Squeeky steering

Steering troubles... steering has become very squeeky overnight and my mechanic told me i need to replace my steering pump!

Not a small job and cost of parts is pretty punchy - however, my mechanic didnt even take a look under the hood before diagnosing the problem... It had squeeky problems about 3 or 4 months ago and he replaced steering pump oil and seemed to fix the problem, albeit temporarily.

Anyone had the same issues? Is it a common problem?

Mine is a 2009 CL550... I am based in Hong Kong, so we def dont have the same cold weather probs as what you may have! I was told the steering pump has gone, but i want to make sure thats the real reason before forking out US2000 for parts and labour!

Its the lsuspension arms and bushings. Appears to be a common issue with CL facelift. About to replace mine as well.

mines not a facelift, and this just started about a month ago. however i concur about being the arms and bushings. im having much difficulty singling out which arm and bushing though, i can only condense it to the passenger side.

in all fairness i had two issues that cause squeeking when turning left or right and one is the suspension arm bushings which sounds very soft. The other is the brake pads been worn out 100% which sounded "heavy".
I am aware that all CL facelifts have the issue because i observed a lot having an MOT failure within a year on the road with the bushings.
