Jack Point

I'm going to attempt brakes/rotors soon. Can anyone tell me the jack point for a floor jack, while I place the car on jack stands? As usual, plenty of YouTube data for others models, but not ours. I've not jacked up a car in a long time, and especially don't want to hurt my car (or me).

Whenever I've done brakes I've just jacked up one wheel at a time. The floor jack point is the same point as the point to use with jack supplied with car ... get an adapter to use floor jack. Search "jack point adapter." Problem is, the jack points are also the only points available for jackstands ... again adapters required. There are special jackstands available for ~$300 each that will accomodate your floor jack... these are the only way to correctly jack up car for jack stands, and at $1200 for four of them I'd be looking for a lift instead.

The biggest problem with doing brakes is your "automatic" parking brake. I did my rears by having motor running and transmission in N ... this electrically releases the parking brake. (There is a drum on back side of rear disc that serves as parking brake) Obviously wheels on ground blocked to prevent roll away. On these cars, parking brake is automatically electrically applied whenever ignition is off. It may be possible to disconnect wiring at the rear, but I couldn't get it, so did my workaround.

Note also that removal of caliper carrier from hub is required to remove the rotor, and Mercedes specifies those bolts be replaced, not reused. Torque for these bolts is something like 180nm, so a struggle to loosen and retighten, especially with vehicle close to ground on jack or jack stands as opposed to up on a lift.

Thanks for your reply...this may be more than I should bite off, especially doing this for the first time. I see Senior Leigh in his fantastic videos use a floor jack somewhere near the front axle, but it looks like that part is covered up with a plastic shield on the CL. I was picturing using a floor jack somewhere besides the jack point, placing jack stands at the stated jack points, and off I go. I should probably drop it and leave it to the pros with the proper equipment, even though it would be fun/gratifying doing it myself.
