Amg Body Style Question
Hopefully someone can help sort out this question for me. Most of you might remember my CL that was in an accident with a Porsche Cayanne. Anyway... the car is still in the shop getting fix. My question is I wanted to use 2003-05 AMG bodykit for the car and do not want to use 2000-02 AMG style because the 03-05 front end looks a lot fuller and thicker and the rear bumper looks a lot nicer with the blackout. The bodyshop told me that one of the personnel at Mercedes say it would not fit an 2000 CL model year when he call to order the parts. Is that true... the body framing should be identical from 2000-2005? Hope that they are wrong...otherwise I have to settle for the 00-02 style or order the WALD style kit again. Thanks in advance.

Here is what I found out after wanting to do the same thing as you, except it's for an S class:
For the front, the 03+ amg will fit on the 00-02 when you change out the hood and the grill because the new engine is taller. The side skirts and rear will fit no problem, actually don't really notice any difference from the older version.
An S class member dtxmob has done it in his 00 S class, using the 06 front amg kit.

You are correct...the 2003-05 AMG body style does fit okay on the 2000-02 CL. I guess the Mercedes dealer in Pasadena, CA do not have much knowledge about the CL...how sad is that...terrible. They also say there is no such thing as a diffuser or blackout cover and that it is usually painted black, so they sent the bumber as it...I called around and of course there suck a thing. I will keep you all posted once the car is done...so far it is looking awesome.
