This car is so stunningly beautiful. Especially in these pictures, it looks like it would've been made for the AMG-body kit. This would also explain why it appears so cheap in standard trim.What a Porsche eater

Why would a luxury company like Mercedes risk their reputation by lying to their customers and focus an entire ad campaign on the hand built thing.
They could also possibly be sued for deceptive advertising practices...I don't think they would take that chance.

I think he is refering to the fact that the guys have machines to help them build the engines and the parts are all mostly ready before it's assembled (by hand!).
Apparently some people want "hand built" to mean literally hand built.

I have actually visited the AMG headquarters in Affalterbach, and seen the engines being hand assembled. Ofcourse many of the parts arrive ready made,how could one engineer build 2-3 engines per day otherwise?? They dont sit there pressing steel!!!
But this does not take away from the fact that this process is still special and rare in the car industry,especially for such a mass produced marque,and it does contribute a certain added feeling of quality.

It seems the "bluntness" emanates from the new European safety regulations that are intended to save pedestrian lives. Unfortunately the look will be spreading to all vehicle manufacturers. Some views don't appear as blunt, but maybe this is why AMG has incorporated a more aggressive body panel design on the CL63 than even on the CL550 "sport package".
