CL65 question
Just wondering if the cl65 has more service requirements than say a cls500, im currently looking at purchasing a 2005 cl65, it would be my everyday driver, just want to make sure it doesnt have to be serviced every few thousand miles, or require special service visits. Also is service on this beast going to break the bank?

Do they have alot of issues? This will be an everyday driver, and to be honest im very abusive on my cars. I drive on average 100 miles between school and work everyday, and go to LA quite often, is this car for me?
Also, where can I find an extended warranty?

4k into my 65 and the Bosch pump went bad. So far thats it but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Its a V12, honestly it would never by my daily driver and I have a short commute when I go to work. The warranty may cover your costs but it doesnt make up for time lost when and if you break down and time spent at the dealer. I have time to deal with these items so having a V12 or even a Benz for that fact is worth it. With that many miles of driving (100) I would never consider this car for a daily driver. An E55 would be much more reasonable for your needs and would still provide all the power.

I have almost 10,000 miles on my S65. There have been a few glitches with the car (soft-close for the door, drive-dymanic seat pump), but nothing having to do with the engine. Early problems with the V-12 have been pretty well ironed out now. My service advisor confirmed this before I got the car (and he had nothing to gain since I bought the car from an out-of-town dealer). Of course, the "2" between 63 and 65 is a huge difference in driving experience .
The original question was about maintenance. All AMGs have the same maintenance schedule: every 10,000 miles vs. 13,000 for non-AMGs. Spark plugs on V-12s get changed at 60,000 (vs. 100,000 for all other engines, although the dealer usually advises changing plugs before then). Of course, it takes more oil and the brakes are bigger, so other maintenance costs will be somewhat higher.
I wouldn't advise having any Mercedes without a warranty. In my experience, lots of things break though rarely the engine.

SL65 is my daily driver,about 5k miles of hard(read abusive) driving,numerous "donuts" and 160 mph+ runs.
No problems with the car ,had to add oil couple times though and still having issues withe Kleemann software (overboost after hard ,prolonged acceleration to over 150mph).
I would not and will not keep the car like that (or even a regular 500) out of warranty.

Considered a 07 CLS63 (nice car) but ended up in the 05 CL65. Liked the look, power and 2 doors better. 5 months and 14000 miles in and have had needed a transmission seal (small leak) and a folding mirror motor. Repaired by MB under warranty. MB offered me a loner for the day that it was being repaired.
