My Cl63 amg Refuses to pass 6500rpm in 1st gear
I just got a Cl63 and found that in first gear in Manual mode the fuel cut is limited to only 6500 RPM, and the dash asks in red and asks for an upshift . If I leave it in S it doesn't hit the fuel cut off in first but still wont shift at redline instead around 6500 RPM.
I don't know for sure if it's a fuel cut but it feels like a very violent hesitation as if the revs just hit a wall. Remember this only happens in 1st gear in Manual mode.
i think it is affecting perfomance 0-100km figures ,it is very intresting in manual mode 2nd gear goes to 7000rpm 3rd gear goes 7200 rpm why is this ,i emailed amg did not get any reply im taking the car to my dealer in alexandria - egypt to check what is wrong with it
Is it normal that AMG doesn't give a damn about its customers !!! i had an BMW M5 and i was treated much better !!!!

This was normal in my E63. It is also the case in most AMG's. Don't know the exact reason but all of my AMG's shift a bit earlier from 1st to 2nd than other gears.
My theory is that it does this based on how quickly you reach readline in 1st due to the gearing.
Nothing wrong with your car.

I had a tech from Bosch Mototsports in Los Angeles do it for $1500 and it took 10 mins. Please see my ECU upgrade thread on the S class AMG page for more info re horsepower gain, etc. I am getting a new transmission module next week which is also supposed to make the shifts 3 times faster then when in M mode as well as lengthen the ratio of the factory programmed gear shifts. i'll post an update once it's done and let everyone know the exact outcome.

bilal i have a S63 not 55 motor and you are correct that the gear ratios cannot be reprogrammed with a normal ecu upgrade to the main computer module which is why i am getting a new transmission module which is a separate computer unit housed under the floor of the passenger seat which will then be reprogrammed in Germany. i was told that the Bosch techs in Germany bring the module directly to their contacts at AMG to be reprogrammed. he has done 2 S63's and over 70 other 63 models and that this will significantly increase gear and shift ratios as stated above.
