I'm glad everyone is happy. I guess the original intent of this thread was to find out if using the RennTech IC would eliminate the power loss experienced ocassionally with the stock IC. Adam says not entirely so that makes it tough to know whether the expense is justified. Have you found your CL600 runs substantially better with the RT IC?

i doubt
i doubt that you would notice any difference with the renntech intercooler pump, and there has been posts of their pump failing too. i would spend the money on something else.

I did not know this?
"The air bubble frequent occurrence is mainly caused by a flaw of the intercooler system especially for the earlier 600 chassis."
Adam,
Does this problem also happen in the 65?? If so, you are basically telling me the Renntech intercooler will not fix this problem. I definitely won't blow 3K for this mod if it does not reliably help the car keep its power. Too bad.

if ur stock you more then likely do not need an upgrade, once u do the ECU upgrade it increases the stock boost and puts more stress on the oem IC system
I am not aware of the RennTech IC pump failing, and you wont find me saying good things about RennTech too often ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
The issue with the air bubbles IMHO isnt just linked to the 600 but the 65 as well since the IC systems are identical. The airbubbles can come from servicing the system without having it properly bled, but the bigger problem is this combined with the same crappy pump that came in the 55K motors and sharing cooling circuits with the engine coolant makes the stock system hit or miss. Renntechs shot at the cooling upgrade is not bad but it does not separate the cooling circuits and although i cant speak for the performance nor reliability of their pump but why pay 3K when u can get a proven pump for less than 125 bucks and a front mount heat exchanger for less then 200 bucks and youve got the renntech IC upgrade
I had no idea the Renntech intercooler upgrade also has a history of failing?? For over 3K you would think it would be perfected.

E55Jay,
My problem is I don't understand the engine mechanics. Is it really that easy to duplicate the Renntech intercooler upgrade for so cheap? If so can you help me with the parts and a place to get my car worked on? I've seen the Renntech intercooler in person and it appears to be a more heavy duty and larger pump then the stock. What intercooler would you use if you were going to replace the stock and how do I separate the cooling circuits?

Larry,
The 2005-06 600/65 chassis are less prone to the formation of the air bubble in the system. However, if you encounter such problem, please make sure your MB tech bleed the system right because it is a pain to bleed and may take more than once to get rid of the air bubbles.

Adam: Thanks for the clarification. Then it is a good idea to get the RennTech ECU/TCU ugrade done. I read earlier in this thread that this mod will put additional strain on the IC and, thus, bring about the problems we have been discussing. But, you are saying 'not so' on the '06s?
